Röda Sten Konsthall offers two uniquely designed three-day workshops for those who are eager for a creative boost in artistic creation. The content is based on the artistic practices showed in the Summer Exhibition. Participants have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the interesting environment at Röda Sten Konsthall while experimenting with exciting art materials and developing new ideas together with like-minded individuals. A memory for life!
Welcome to our three-day workshop, where we will try performance art, writing poetry and making collages related to Nontokozo Tshabalala’s work in the Summer Exhibition at Röda Sten Konsthall. The artist participates on the first day.
Art is one of many ways of expression that we can use to make our voices heard. Protesting and demonstrating together with other like-minded people is a way to fight for what we believe in. What do we wish for in a time where wars, disasters and oppression are mentioned daily in the press? How do we take care of ourselves and each other sustainably?
Born and raised in South Africa, Tshabalala uses her art to raise questions about her identity and experience as a black person wherever she is. She often uses colour, collage and poetry as means of expression.
During these three days, we take Tshabalala’s work as a starting point when we make analogue collages, write short poems and try out some easy drama exercises.
No previous knowledge is required.
