A three-day program with an exhibition, noise concerts and an art and book fair

The Longest Night 2023 festival presents the group exhibition Turbulator, the noise concert Midwinternoise and the art and book fair Fijuk midwinter market.

Don’t miss this year’s edition of The Longest Night 2023 festival happening during the darkest time of the year. The program consists of the group exhibition Turbulator, a noise concert, and an art and book fair.

The group exhibition Turbulator is a three-day presentation of some of the most prominent international screen-printing studios for graphics and animation, taking place in the main exhibition hall (Katedralen) at Röda Sten Konsthall.

Friday evening promises brutal, desperate noise concert Midwinternoise, a collaborative experimental soundscape with five different artists. The concert invites for an immersive experience filled with light, sound, and images of the outsider stop-motion animations.

Fijuk midwinter market presents graphics, art books, comics, fanzines and unique handmade artifacts which can be bought directly from their creators in the entrance hall of Röda Sten Konsthall. This is the largest Fijuk market in Gothenburg to date.

The Turbulator exhibition presents an overwhelming collection of raw, unpredictable, eye-watering graphic art, animation and original art print selection from prominent international artists and collectives who use screen-printing as their common practice. It’s bound in an underground network that mutates and survives, crawls into the cracks and grows like mycelium allowing images to travel freely and to acquire at least nine lives.

Le Dernier Cri (Marseille), Matrijaršija (Belgrad), Cult Pump (Copenhagen), Dunja Janković (Barcelona), Martin Lopez Lam (Valencia), Olivier Alleman (Paris), Partizan Print (Skopje), La S Grand atelier (Vielsalm), Oficina Arara (Porto), Mathieu Desjardins (Bordeaux),
Ben Sanair (Avignon), Vasijonanoise (Ljubljana), Miroslav Lazendić (Subotica), Attila Stark (Budapest), Marko Krojac (Berlin), Sterput (Brussels), Igor Hofbauer (Zagreb),
La Briqueterie (Amiens), Longest Night (Gothenburg), Jonas Almqvist (Kinna) and Sara Laé (Brussels) who made the exhibition poster.

Consert: Midwinternoise

Friday 6 – 9 p.m.

Midwinternoise Lineup:

Pakito Bolino, Marseille: godfather of the underground, brutal and autodidact noise illuminated by animations from his legendary screen-printing laboratory Le Dernier Cri.

Sewer Election, Gothenburg: extreme, nasty noise from the wet city that never sleeps.

Incipientium, Gothenburg: chaos, control, desperation, depression.

Feberdröm, Gothenburg: tender, staggering noise opera inspired by doom.

Vasijonanoise, Ljubljana: extraterrestrial noise, a collision between sound and image which catapults to an unknown galaxy.

Art and book fair: Fijuk midwinter market

Friday 4 – 9 p.m.
Saturday 12 – 4 p.m.
Sunday 12 – 4 p.m.

The fair offers the city’s most exclusive collection of graphics, artist books, magazines, fanzines, comics, originals, handmade, self-published, bound and unbound pieces for sale, borrowing, or just for fun.

This fair is a unique place where publishers and audiences meet directly, where everyone can have the cake and eat it too, and where the rarest artifacts can be found. Fijuk started as a network of small publishers, festivals and independent artists, and has grown into an underground distribution chain with regular events for exchange of unique handmade pieces.

The event is realized in collaboration between Röda Sten Konsthall and the screen-printing workshop and gallery Longest Night in Kortedala. The Longest Night 2023 festival takes place in various locations in Gothenburg during the weekend.
